Emergency overflows for PVC roof membranes – effective protection of the roof against flooding

Emergency overflows for roof membranes (e.g. PVC) are specialised outlets installed on flat roofs and a key element of the water drainage system of flat roofs. Their main task is to protect the roof against flooding by quickly discharging excess water from the roof surface to the outside of the building, especially in emergency situations – when standard roof drains are blocked or cannot cope with heavy rainfall.

As a result, emergency overflows prevent dangerous ponding on the roof, protecting the building structure against overloading and potential damage.

Key features and advantages of the product:

  • Effective protection against flooding: The emergency overflow automatically takes over water discharge when the main drainage system stops working properly. This minimises the risk of leaks into the building and damage to the structure.
  • Compatibility with the roof membrane (PVC): The product is designed specifically for roofs covered with waterproofing membranes such as PVC membrane. It has a plastic-coated flange that can be fully welded to the roof membrane – a guarantee of watertightness and durability.
  • Durability and weather resistance: Emergency overflows are made of top-quality materials resistant to UV, low temperatures and extreme weather conditions. The solid construction ensures a long service life.
  • Easy installation: Installing an emergency overflow is quick and simple – it is mounted in the parapet wall or the roof edge, and thanks to the well-thought-out construction with a flange welded to the roof membrane, installation goes smoothly.
  • Appeal to demanding customers: ProRoof emergency overflows are a solution valued by construction site managers and developers. They increase safety and demonstrate the professionalism of the project.

Frequently asked questions about emergency overflows

What are emergency overflows?

Emergency overflows are special elements installed on flat roofs. They discharge excess water to the outside of the building when the main roof drains are blocked or cannot cope with heavy rainfall.

What materials are used in ProRoof overflows?

Our standard emergency overflows are made of galvanised steel sheet coated with a layer of PVC; the HD versions are made of UV-resistant PVC-U and the INOX version of AISI 304 stainless steel.

How are overflows installed on roofs with a PVC membrane?

The overflow is installed in the parapet wall or the roof edge on a cleaned and prepared substrate, and the flange is heat-welded to the PVC membrane, in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and occupational safety regulations.

Who is ProRoof and who manufactures the overflows?

ProRoof is a brand of emergency overflows and flat-roof drainage components. The company behind the brand is TOMPOL-MED Ludmiła Biadaszkiewicz-Strugała from Jarocin, Poland; we make the products in Poland for contractors, roofers, designers, construction companies and business customers.

Which roof waterproofing systems are ProRoof overflows compatible with?

We offer versions for PVC membranes, for TPO/FPO membranes and for bituminous waterproofing. Compatibility with the waterproofing is a separate product attribute, independent of the material the overflow is made of (coated sheet metal, PVC-U or stainless steel), so always check it in the specification of the chosen product.

Can an overflow be made to measure and what should an enquiry include?

Yes. In addition to the standard variants we make emergency overflows to individual dimensions, and the INOX version made of AISI 304 stainless steel is produced to order. In your enquiry state the type of roof waterproofing (PVC, TPO/FPO or bituminous), the required overflow material, the dimensions (width, height, length), the quantity and the delivery location.

How do I place an order and which markets do you supply?

Business customers can order online in this shop (prices in EUR; a valid EU VAT ID is required) or send an enquiry via the contact form or by email. We supply the EU countries available at checkout; customers in Poland order at proroof.pl.
